Financial Crisis Tames Demand for World’s Oldest Service

This article is about the decrease in demand for prostitution in Prague. It is a huge industry, generating about $500 million each year. This has caused the Czech government to consider regulating the industry, just like all other companies. Either way, demand is way down, so people are demanding fewer services, while at the same time, more people are turning to prostitution for work. It is actually causing the entire country to hurt a little because of the decrease in "sex tourists", or people who come from other countries to go to brothels. Fewer hotels are being rented, fewer European flights are being bought and its all around a tough time.

So I guess this makes prostitution a normal good...

I dont really see any sort of benefit to having prostitution lay in a legal gray area instead of regulating it for tax and such. This seems silly.

I agree. Since they are allowing it, they might as well regulate it and earn some money along the way. It would probably be a much safer industry if it became more regulated.
