Economic slump causes NFL to cut staff

It appears that even the National Football League is not immune to the current economic crisis. Today they announced that they will be cutting about 10% of their staff that works in New York, at the headquarters. This announcement comes after the NBA and NASCAR also announced layoffs. Roger Goodell, Commissioner of the NFL, noted that most games have been sold out this season. He notes though that this was probably because season tickets were purchased over the summer and last season. The 2009 season will be a move accurate measure of how bad the NFL has bee hit.

Ridiculous to think that one of the most profitable sports organizations in the United States had to cut jobs.
