Russia and Poland agree on long-term gas supplies
Russia and Poland signed a long-term contract of gas supplies which should last until 2045. The article indicates that the contract is almost official as there are few more documents that need to be signed. Russia used to be the main supplier of natural gas to CEE until it cut the exports a few years back which put Poland into a deficit. It is not stated who initiated this type of deal but it would be interesting to find out what was the motive of Vladimir Putin for doing so.

Extending the gas supplies to 2045 is such a bold move considering it is such a long time into the future. Russia must be extremely confident in their gas supply to agree to do this. I wonder if this agreement will have any impact on the price of natural gas to those in Poland since it is a long term agreement involving the natural gas companies. The Nord Stream pipeline looks to ease some environmental concern so that is always good.
It was a bold move and it is a long time into the future... You never know what the next administration would find to be a more plausible solution to such energy problems. Especially when it seems like the new administration in Poland will be coming sooner than expected, after a great loss the Polish people just suffered when basically half of the Poland's government crashed on a plane on their way to ... Russia
I wonder if anything is going to change now since not all the paperwork was signed before the plain crash and if the new administration is going to want to keep the same deal for so long. I think that making it last until 2045 is way too long.
