Its good to see that a country that once in turmoil take the necessary actions that are needed to turn their country around. With such instances such as a terrorist attack and a massive earthquake a good leader would be needed to provide guidance to the country. It seems that Indonesia president Mr. Yudhoyono is on the right tract in governing Indonesia.

Having lived in Indonesia for 12 years I have witnessed the many changes and events that have plagued this great country. President Yudhoyono has definitely spread a sense of optimism among the Indonesian people. However, I do strongly agree with the article that corruption is still a major problem. As inequality continues to decrease I believe corruption will slowly ease out of the system. Indonesia is a wonderful country and has great potential to become a power house in the Asian market and throughout the world.

This article gives insight to many ideas of economic growth for developing countries. It shows that despite many obstacles (such as corruption, unpredictable weather, a grim economic collapse in the past) a low income country has the potential to develope with a well-intention government, which can have a very positive impact- such as the elimination of piracy in earlier years and the decreasing of debt. It also shows the importance of decreased foreign dependence and the advantage that natural resources can provide to economic growth.
The economist also posted a nice video that explains the same idea of Indonesia's growth.
