Doctors driven to bankruptcy

Recently there have been more doctors filing for bankruptcy, causing some to stop practicing.  What is particularly surprising is that the majority of these doctors have not had malpractice lawsuits.  The change in regulations, shrinking insurance reimbursements, and the rising costs of malpractice insurance are all causes of this new trend. This has caused doctors to send patients to other doctors and hospitals for care, which can make it hard for patients to be able to see specialists because of the distance.  I think it is very disappointing that the economy has caused health care providers to stop practicing and it is harder for some patients to access healthcare.

Interesting article. hard to believe that doctors, typically thought of as well-paid professionals, are having to file chapter 11. I would love to hear more about what the causes of these rising costs are. Is obamacare responsible for it? I remember reading an article, albeit from a right-wing source, that was adamant that obamacare would result in higher costs for private practices and it looks like his words might be turning into reality.

Well, this was not only bad for doctors themselves but also harmful for low and middle income people. Given their already limit ability to see the doctors, the recent trend of doctors stop practicing could create another barrier for these people if they need help when they are sick or injured.
