Bernanke goes on 60 minutes

On Sunday, a 60 minutes special aired with Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. On the special, he discussed current economic issues such as unemployment, the increasing deficit, and the latest $600 billion purchase of the U.S. Treasury Bill.

Bernanke seems nervous. He adamantly states that quantitative easing is not akin to printing money, but in the end that basically is what it is. More liquidity is pumped in to the economy, although money is not "printed" per-say. Also, he seems to ignore concerns about negative impacts on developing economies by stressing that QE2 is necessary to avoid a "double dip" recession and therefore to stabilize the world economy as a whole.
