How will we react to reopening the economy?

The President of the United States has created a task force to reopen the economy, although individuals differ on how soon they believe he should act. It has been hinted that the end of May could potentially be when the economy reopens. Eventually people will need to return to work and social distancing guidelines will be relaxed. However, acting too soon can spur a resurgence of the virus. There is talk about having some parts of the country open up faster than others? Do you think that May is too early to open up the economy? Also, what do you think will be the effects of this long shut down that the country endured? Below is a relevant article.

I think May is definitely too soon to re-open the economy since the curve has not yet been flattened. There is still a long way to go, and I think the country will slowly but surely get there. Since there are still states that have not been following social distancing orders, there is still room for more measures to be set in place. I believe that long term economic shut down will have negative consequences for the entire world, not just one country. So the consequences will be faced globally, and it is uncertain whether this is a positive or negative outcome.

May is defiantly way too early to reopen the US. I would say the end of June at the earliest. Many areas have implemented stay at home orders but it seems a lot of citizens are not taking it seriously. The shut down is defiantly going to hurt a lot of people, but I think things will go back to normal pretty soon once things open back up.

I think that instead of re-opening the economy, we should pivot it. Turn our society into one that focuses on communicating through technology, and make it standard practice. Professional sports could exist in a way that all of the players are in one city or state for a 3-4 month period. I wouldn't start doing these things until end of May, maybe add 3-4 more weeks on top of our current federal stay-at-home recommendation, but instead of sitting with our hands under our legs we should be figuring out how to adapt. It is doable, just not practical compared to how society used to be.

I believe that early or mid-May is too early to reopen the economy but I believe that end of May or Early June is enough time to begin reopening the economy in certain states, while still restricting travel, including travel for business purposes. I believe this gives the government space to slowly ease into a nationwide reopening while also enough room to contain any potential outbreaks because they'd be on a state level.

Opening the economy in May is way too soon! There is still so much uncertainty surrounding the virus and I feel as though even if the economy opens in the early summer, people will not feel comfortable enough to partake in normal activities that make our economy boom. There is so much fear surrounding this virus so until we get closer to a vaccination date or until the curve flattens and stays flat, the economy should remained close. It's better to be extra cautious than to risk another outbreak by moving to quickly because we're money hungry. You can't put a price on lives.
