This is crazy. Colleges don't make promises about the futures of their grads; all they can do is give students the tools they need to succeed in life. It is up to the individual to take the initiative and make things happen. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see similar lawsuits in the future if the job market remains as dismal as it is currently.

I laughed when I read this. I agree... the purpose of attending college is not for them to help you find a job, it is to prepare you to perform in a job. With the recession, and unemployment being near ten percent, she should be blaming the economy, not her school.

I agree with both Christina and Karen. This article is pretty ridiculous. The main purpose of attending college is to broaded your education and to help prepare yourself for the real world. It is not the colleges full responsibility to help you find a job. The women in this article is 27 years old. She needs to take more responsibility for herself and take the initiative in finding a job.

College is meant for people to expand their mind in whatever field their studying, as well as guide their students in the future with the information taught by the school. However, after graduation it is up to the graduate to utilize the tools she learned and get the job. Yes, schools can help in that department, but it is not the school's responsibility for the student to have a job after graduation. I find it absurd that she is trying to file a lawsuit against the university. How about instead of wasting her time doing that, go out and try to find a job with the skills you learned in school.
