German elections: Businesses face future without Merkel
In Germany, Angela Merkel has been the chancellor for the past 15 years. However, with the new elections coming up Merkel is stepping down and will not be eligible to become chancellor again. This change in leadership leaves many people, and business, wondering what life will be like next. The coronavirus caused many businesses, especially those in entertainment, to suffer. While other businesses are able to start getting back on their feet, many entertainment businesses are struggling to comply with Covid regulations. Who ever takes over Merkel's leadership will have to figure out a way to help the businesses that are still struggling in a coronavirus world.
Like many other places, Germany is facing a worker shortage. With limits on travel and migration, businesses that relied on immigrant workers are finding it hard to staff their workplaces. Again, businesses are looking forward to a new chancellor to come up with new solutions to this problem. Another thing Germans are looking forward to with a new chancellor is the update of German technology. Europe is currently not a tech powerhouse compared to the United States and China, and Germans would like to see Germany leading the tech movement.
It will be interesting to see who the German people elect, and how their policy will differ from Merkel's. I hope that rise of the right does not continue with the German people as it has in other European countries.

It is surely interesting to see who gets elected and how their policy will affect the nation's business sector. To add to your points, the undergoing phasing out of nuclear power plants, and slowed automotive sales, especially the largest manufacturers, are surely the biggest contributors of unemployment, outside of Covid and the subsequent economic crisis. I do not think Technology would be of enough help for employment, but if that means the Automobile companies turn into tech companies like Tesla, that would make more sense. It is my personal opinion that it is next to impossible for German tech to gain enough ground to be successful for more than a few years if not months, in front of the American Big Tech and the Chinese tech sector.
One of the first names that comes to my mind, when I think about Germany, is Angela Merkel. She has ruled Germany since 2005. Since 2005, Germany has faced many problems on her way. However, she was always able to come up with solutions(even though not all of them were effective). It is hard to predict who will become the next chancellor. Olaf Scholz and Armin Laschet are main contenders for this position. Hopefully, the new chancellor will develop Germany's technology industry and solve worker shortage. In my opinion, the new chancellor might face big challenges immediately.
It is interesting that countries in Europe are facing the same situation as the United States when it come to the labor shortage. It seems like the labor shortage in America is due to the low minimum wage and poor working conditions, but Germany is suffering due to lack of immigrant labor. It will be curious to see if the new chancellor will open the borders to lessen the labor shortage.
