This is an incredible depiction of the effects of the income wage gap. As seen in the cartoon, a lower income leads to more illness, less resources, lower education rate, higher debt, and job insecurity. this could be many different countries, but the privilege that Robert has over Paula has long term effects. Even though it doesn't seem like he had a huge advantage the advantages he had having parents home working on schoolwork, or paying for college so he didn't have to work lead to his success in the workplace. The irony is at the end he complains about people who have things handed to him with paula working right next to him. From the cartoon it looks like Paula worked much harder than Robert and yet it didn't pay off. This coincides with the research done by Julia B Isaacs, in "International Comparisons of Economic Mobility". The connections, educational opportunities, and health advantages of being wealthier provided by your parents helps you maintain the same economic status they did.
