The Worldwide Wobble

http://www.economist.com/news/leaders/21595900-world-economy-will-have-bumpy-2014-recovery-not-yet-risk-worldwide

This article discusses the future of the world economy and how it will not be stable. 2013 was a year of rapid growth in the world economy, but that is not predicted for 2014. There have already been significant losses in January. Many believe the economy is now fragile and worry about what could happen next. Although economists have predicted some bleak outcomes, they could not always be correct, and this article states not to be pessimistic. It will be interesting to see how the major world actors will play a role in these predictions and if the economy will continue to be as unstable as they say.

Investors have definitely felt a bit of a pinch by the capital markets. The market has been going through adjustment, often downwards more than anything, and this has made investors a bit bearish and maybe even pessimistic. Even OWU's Investment Club is trying to predict market direction for the coming months in order make strong investments that hedge against the potential market down side.

This article shows how difficult firms have it when trying to forecast and predict economic outcomes or conditions for the future. It's a tedious and somewhat unnerving idea to trust circumstances that could change so rapidly. One part of this article refers to the unusually harsh winter weather and how that in itself has "disrupted" economic activity. It's circumstances like this that are so unpredictable and can impact the economy in equally unpredictable ways.
