Federal worker pay freeze likely to be extended

http://money.cnn.com/2013/03/15/news/economy/federal-worker-pay-freeze/index.html?iid=SF_E_River

Many federal workers will suffer from a continuation of the two year pay freeze. This will extend the pay freeze to December 31st. This lack in pay raises will hurt many federal workers as they were expecting to see a .5% raise in pay by next month. On top of this, the budget cuts that were recently implemented are forcing many federal workers to take a 20% pay cut for five months. Plus many agencies have started hiring freezes, so this begs the question of is too much of the federal budget deficit problems being put on the backs of the federal employees?

Something needs to be done about this immediately. the sooner the United States is able to sort out the financial troubles, the better it would be for individuals suffering from this. after reading this, it almost makes it seem less appealing to be a federal worker considering what it going on at the moment

I didn't realize just how bad things were getting for federal workers. While I can understand a hold on the pay increase of .5%, a five month pay cut that is 40 times larger than the expected increase is ridiculous. Who would want to be a federal employee with the current pay record?

Lets hope this can be resolved quickly. I am interested to see if these pay freezes, job loses, and pay cuts are affecting our elected officials. If not, they are clearly not realizing the magnitude of this, better yet, I think they are not collaborating with officials on the "other side" and are not acting in the publics best interest. Most of the time, the people handling these issues have no interest in the issue and may not be willing to act quickly or willing to cross the river and make political sacrifices.
