Budget Deal Avoids Shutdown

This article talks about the most recent news about the infamous "SHUTDOWN", there isn't going to be one! Now I know the news has been blown up with all the scare about this big bag shutdown, but all along did you really see this happening? NO WAY! These politicians utilize the shutdown as a negotiation tool. Time is one of the most important aspects of negotiation, so to set a time limit on the deal both sides are forced to think quickly. From what the democrats have said in this article they have really got the Sh** end of the stick on the deal, giving up more spending cuts than they wanted, and agreeing to tax cuts for the rich in December.

Democrats had to appease the Republicans possibly because so they could have a better chance at keeping their jobs. I am glad that Obama signed a short-term spending bill to prevent the government partial meltdown; otherwise, it would be more expensive to shut down parts of the government. I am intrigued to see if there would be an increased cooperation between the parties in the interest of America, not its political affiliations. But still, why can't these politicians get a pay cut meanwhile they're cutting all of the Federal employees' salaries. Am I sensing selfishness?

I don't think we will see an increase in cooperation. Rather, I believe this aversion of a huge crisis will begin a new blame game between parties. The tea party may come under fire for causing such a fuss, or the dems could also be criticized for spending so much money. Either way, I foresee this sort of thing happening again. The only way to fix it is cooperation, or at least compromise in the form of tax increases for the wealthy in exchange for a reduction in spending in another area. The problem with the current sets of demands is that republicans are claiming they are cutting the budget, but the programs they want to cut will have a larger impact politically than they will on the budget deficit. Tax increases, and decreased military spending (second largest part of the US budget) are the best ways, but unfortunately in today's world doing either is political suicide.
