It's not surprising to see airlines merging, especially with the state that they are in. I guess charging absurd amounts for checking bags wasn't enough.
This merger could be extremely beneficial for both parties. Combining both airlines would create the country's second largest-carrier with control on international and domestic flights.
This merger will mark a huge step in consolidating the industry. Most airline companies are becoming desperate and are trying to stay afloat so it makes sense for these two to merge. They need to survive.
