China Sets Clean Air Targets

We all know about the rising pollution in China and this article talks about their future plans on reducing the pollution. In the next three years they want to reduce the toxic emissions by 25 percent. This will be a major impact on how things are operated in China. It will be interesting to see how it affects our trade and outsourcing with them as they are looking to make major changes.

It will also be interesting to see what kind of regulations will be put on these multinational companies and what kind of effect that might have on the prices of goods sold in the US. I have also heard that China is trying to get away from their old ways of manufacturing and enter more into a more modern technological market. I wonder if this could be the start of a new age in China.

I believe the new age of China started a long time ago in the 90s.

For those many corporation settled in china due to their labor practices. Those that emit air pollutants might not find china to be the best place for their business, possibly increasing unemployment and slowing china's growth

Rising pollution is not only China's problem. Wind carries smog cloud eastwards and affects Korea and Japan's smog level.

I think that this will be an interesting topic to watch overtime as it will take a while to implement. I also believe that Brad is right talking about how this may increase unemployment because bigger corporations that do emit pollution will start to look for alternative locations to do business possibly.

We'll have to wait and see how the cost of 'cleaning up the air' will effect the price levels of commodities being produced in China.
