Is Serbia the next?

This article talks about mass anti-government protests held in Serbia’s capital, Belgrade. The mass demanded early election from the government and accused the government of corruption and current economic problems. Serbian Progressive Party leader, who organized the protest, said "For 10 years, Serbia has lived under a corrupt government” and called for “more responsible and capable government”. This article once again shows that corruption is like a cancer, it is deeply in the system and the only cure for it, are radical methods like the ones discussed in the article.

This is very good article regarding corruption and the problems that it inevitably causes in any society over time. The article states that the government's main political goal is to integrate into the European Union. This would without a doubt help the economic stability in the country but the integration has been an extremely slow process. So, despite the fact that the government is atempting an evolutionary change to their economic system, it appears as though a revolutionary change is going to take place due to the building up to this crisis which will probably resolve itself by systematic change.

Its interesting to see that in each of these cases of mounting opposition towards a government one of the main reasons for revolution has been the state of the economy. It seems like in the most stereotypical light it always seems as though the people are revolting against a leader and the leader alone. But we can see in both Tunisia and Egypt a main point of frustration has been unemployment. The desires of Serbia to revolt seem even more well founded because the opposition is in favor of joining an established economy which just seems to lend credibility to those unhappy with the current state.
